Ship to Ship
STS service is the transfer of fuel between two ships floating at sea. This is usually done when a large tanker (VLCC) cannot dock at a port due to its large size or shallow water depth.
Port to Ship
PTS service is the transfer of fuel from a land terminal to a berthed vessel. It is a common method of supplying fuel to vessels that require refueling before embarking on a voyage.
